As many of you might know today is Friday the 13. A day in which many people associate with bad luck or events. The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia, a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (meaning Friday), and dekatreís (meaning thirteen), attached to phobía (meaning fear) [1].
The history of the Knights Templar have a relation to Friday the 13th. On Friday, October 13, 1307 (a date sometimes linked with the origin of the Friday the 13th superstition) King Philip IV of France sent secret orders throughout France to arrest De Molay and scores of other French Templars to be simultaneously arrested. The Templars were charged with numerous heresies and tortured to extract false confessions of blasphemy, which, though obtained under duress, caused a scandal in Paris.
The information of friday the 13th leads to the story of the DeMolay Degree about the trials of Jacques DeMolay (the person DeMolay is named after), and teaches us about the bond of friendship and loyalty we share as DeMolay members.
