Colorado Springs had its Camping trip June 19-21. It was a blast!!! Attending the events was A. H., B. N., T. G., M. C., and T. B. Advisers attending was Dad Griffith, Mom and Dad Rieter, and Mom Bennett. Thank you to the advisers who attended for the support.
We met up at the Masonic Center at 3 and then headed over to Lone Duck Campground! Once we arrived, we started setting up the tents. We then ate a dinner of hamburgers and potatoes! We then headed to the pool for some fun, and included games like Marco Polo, and some dead and not dead!!! Afterwards came the smores!!!!! They were wonderful!!! A. H. was challenged for his title as smores champ and was not defeated! Good job A. H.!!! We then played Hide and Go Seek! Fun times! : )
That night, we just chilled around the fire and played the movie game and "the game". (Darn it I just lost the game) For any of you who dont know the game - the game is, if you think of '' the game'' then you lose it. When you lose it you have to announce it to everyone around and if there is someone who doesn't know how to play you have to teach them it.
We eventually went to bed and told some stories. In the morning we had a breakfast of some pancakes, more potatos, and eggs!! T. G.'s Dad came down to hang for a little while at the camp ground. Then we all went for a hike! It was a good hike, but was cut short because it start to drizzle rain. So we headed back and we had to clean the dishes! : ( Luckily for me, T. G.'s Dad offered me a deal. The deal was if i drank a half a cup of pancake batter then he would do my part of the dishes! So guess what I did!!! I drank the half of cup!!!! It was good too!!! : )
After that we went to the pool. Then James came down to hang with us. After we just hung out and played hide-and-seek and also went to the pond. Afterwards, we sat around the fire, had dinner, and went to bed.
The next morning, after a great breakfast of french toast, percolated coffee and milk, we packed up our stuff and headed home.
That's the camping trip! It was a blast! Thank you Mom and Dad Reiter for getting the food and drinks! Thanks to all who attended cause it wouldnt of been a event without you all. Also, thanks to my mom for baking the bread, rolls and pumpkin bread.

While returning to Colorado from a vacation in Ohio, North Carolina and a visit to Branson, Missouri, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit DeMolay International in Kansas City. After obtaining the address from Mom Reiter (Thanks, Deb) and plugging this information into my GPS navigation aid, we headed towards Kansas City. After making several wrong turns due to driver/navigation device errors, we arrived at the front door. The building was locked due to security concerns, but we were able to obtain entry. We were conducted on a tour of the facility by one of the employees. We were shown the reenactment of Dad Land’s office area (see picture). There were many pictures of friends and dignitaries of Dad Land’s hanging on the wall. There was a mural donated from France that portrayed the Knight’s Templar and Jacques DeMolay. There was a Disney room that contains a lot of video taken over the years. We saw the International Supreme Council’s records storage area where records of all meetings are documented. Of course as was pointed out, every good tour ends at the “gift shop” (DeMolay and More Store!). We met several employees and I bought a new DeMolay briefcase. My wife commented on the amount of history that resides in this building. I wish we would have had more time to visit some of the buildings, monuments and other areas that were associated with Dad Land and the beginnings of DeMolay. |
